if you want to do it that way you'll have to reinstall all your applications from scratch using their installation CDs etc after you reinstall the OS. To move your personal data including your itunes library etc see this post:

it doesn't matter what kind of backup you use for this. you can clone your current install using CCCloner or Superduper. Or you can use Time machine. if you use time machine, after the reinstall control-click on TM in the dock and select 'browse other TM disks'. this will let you browse your old backups and restore what you wnat where you want to.
